About Disconnected

Drawings by Nicole is one of those rare makers who doesn’t just create stuff—she creates feeling. Her shop is woman-owned, LGBTQ+ run, handmade, and proudly not on Amazon. Every piece she puts out carries a pulse. A truth. And Disconnected is one of those pieces that hits you right in the gut—in the best, most necessary way.

This hand-drawn, hand-printed, hand-stapled zine is only 12 pages long, but don’t let that fool you. It holds the weight of what so many modern moms feel but rarely say out loud—the ache of being there, but not always present. The guilt, the grief, the deep love underneath it all. It’s tender. It’s raw. And it’s real as hell.

This isn’t something I brought into the shop to turn a profit on—I carry it because it matters. Because moms deserve mirrors like this. Because sometimes the most healing thing is knowing someone else gets it, and that you’re not the only one quietly unraveling in the middle of Target.

A zine (pronounced zeen, like magazine) is a small, self-published booklet—usually handmade, low-budget, and deeply personal. It can be anything from art and poetry to essays, journal entries, comics, or raw reflections. Think of it like a creative, rebellious little love letter to the world, made without rules, gatekeepers, or polish.

Zines have roots in punk, counterculture, feminism, and DIY movements—basically, where the real shit lives. They're often photocopied, stapled, and passed hand-to-hand. That’s part of their magic. They're not meant to be glossy or mass-produced. They're meant to connect—honestly, imperfectly, soul to soul.
